Tom & Zoe - 17-04-2026 - Westgate Hall & Chilworth Arms

When a couple reach out to you and tell you that the Groom is wearing a cape, both Bride and Groom wanna carry swords and they aim to end the night playing board games with their nearest and dearest…What do you think our answer was? Because if its anything other than, “Fuck Yeah! We’re In!”, you’d be sorely wrong!

Tom & Zoe had hired an insane four…maybe even five story town house (if you are counting the rooftop terrace with hot tub…which you most definitely should be!), in the middle of Southampton in Hampshire. It was the kind of house that just went on and on…so much so that the entire bridal party and groom party were able to get ready inside without bumping into one another…yeah, that kinda house!
Bridal prep took place upstairs, where Zoe was perched in an incredible bay window having her hair and make up done, which obviously meant for some beautiful shots in full day light…Whilst Tom had a room at the back of the house, we also were able to head up to the roof to get some shots across the surrounding rooftops…I can’t lie, perhaps the most precarious set of stairs, the kind you’d maybe find on a ship built in the 16th century led to the roof…Anyway, fun shots all around!
We then had a short journey to Westgate Hall just down the road, a newly renovated building run by the Southampton Registration team, was a lovely little building, the ceremony was as intimate as you’d expect, with readings from one of the couples children, the couple stood at the altar with their swords (From Ransack Viking Craft), was most definitely a sight to behold!
You might think being in the middle of a city might mean a lack of places to take a sword wielding, cape wearing couple but the entire area around Westgate Hall is absolutely steeped in history. We made good use of the original entrance way to get some banging confetti shots, and then the surrounding battlements for even more shots, obviously using our one of a kind card game to ensure that we got the maximum potential from Tom & Zoe without them feeling like they were being poked and prodded…lets face it…you don’t mess with a Bride and Groom both wielding swords…
When they all headed over to The Chilworth Arms, a short drive away, a surprisingly deceptive pub & restaurant…Tom & Zoe had hired the Garden Room, which was again quite deceptive in its size but exactly the perfect size for their wedding guests! Once inside, we ventured down to the fields at the bottom of the beer garden and used the space to get a bunch of family formals and then whipped out the wedding card game for another few rounds to get some shots as the sun dipped behind the trees!
Once back up at the Garden Room, the food was served, the drinks were poured and we were treated to a few speeches, a cake cut…with a fucking sword…and then, probably the most unexpected thing..the prop table, filled with weapons of the faux kind, were used for an impromptu battle around the venue…honestly can’t make it up and it was fucking brilliant!
Once everyone had been slain at least a couple times, the Garden Room turned into a games room and everyone split into different groups to play a whole host of different board games…Genuinely, more weddings need to end with board games because it was such a fucking vibe!
To Tom & Zoe, thank you involving us, we cant tell you how refreshing it is to work with a couple who are so irrevocably themselves…always be yourselves!
Much Love,
